 Wire Rope Lubricants

Low Viscosity Penetrating Oils

All PureLube.com penetrating preservative lubricants pass Federal Test Method 3007 for Water Displacement and Stability Characteristics

EM Cable Lube #2
EM Cable Lube #2 is a 100% synthetic, environmentally safe material with excellent penetrating and lubricating abilities when it forms a nondrying film on the wire rope or electromechanical armor wires. EM Cable Lube #2 is effective over a wide temperature range and pumpable at -70oF. EM Cable Lube #2 provides twice the lubricity of petroleum based materials.

Recommended Applications: Field dressing of electromechanical cable armors utilizing the CoreLube pressure injection and recycling system, wire rope field dressing in arctic and extreme cold conditions, food grade applications.

PreLube 6
Preservative-lubricant forms a thin, transparent, non-drying film that is resistant to corrosion caused by salt, moisture and acid. PreLube 6 penetrates to the core of the wire rope providing, “inner-strand lubricity.” As it penetrates the core, the cavities of the wire rope are filled providing a superior coating that increases the life of wire rope, chain and moving parts.

Recommended Applications: General purpose wire rope field lubrication of running and standing wire ropes - structural strand, mining ropes, lubrication of control cables, lubrication of leaf chain, protection of moving metal parts in storage.

PreLube 14
Similar to PreLube 6 with a higher viscosity base oil for greater boundary lubrication and corrosion protection. PreLube 14 has the consistency of a honey oil with these characteristics: transparent, contains a rust-inhibiting polymer, corrosion inhibitors and extreme pressure additives. PreLube 14 displaces moisture and develops a superior protective coating against hostile atmospheric conditions such as salt water and acid fumes.

Recommended Applications: Utilize PreLube 14 in marine applications - above the water line, open gear applications, wire rope lubrication where a honey-oil preservative lubricant is desired.

Black Diamond Lube
Castor oil with a special additive to displace moisture and prevent corrosion while lubricating the internal wires. Black Diamond Lube will not cause degradation of the rubber sheave liners. Apply Black Diamond Lube in the same manner castor oil was utilized in the past.

Recommended Applications: Ski lift and aerial tramway wire ropes, conveyor wire ropes where rubber sheaves or rubber belt compatibility is essential.

PreLube 19
Low viscosity biodegradable penetrating oil that forms a self healing, dry-to-the-touch skin on the wire rope, structural strand, or parallel wire surface to prevent sheening on the water and leakage at elevated temperatures. PreLube 19 provides excellent corrosion protection on galvanized and steel surfaces and is compatible with petroleum and synthetic based materials.

Recommended Applications: Field dressing of towing hawsers, ski lift and aerial tramway wire ropes, structural strand (guy wire) field maintenance, general use crane wire ropes in marine atmospheres, wire rope storage, cable car wire rope manufacturing

PreLube 19 RLO (RLO-19)
Similar to PreLube 19 in additive composition and corrosion resistance. PreLube 19RLO is available in several viscosities with different penetration rates and sold as a custom formula by job application. The base component is specially formulated to maximize penetration and reduce drippage of large diameter wire ropes, structural strand, and parallel wires. The rationale for the blend is to slow the drying time of the material to maximize material penetration while still allowing the material to form its skin to reduce drippage at elevated temperatures.
