Application: Wire Rope Socketing
PEG2
PEG2 is a turpene based industrial strength cleaner formulated
to replace petroleum distillates and chlorinated cleaning solvents!
PEG2 will remove asphalt, petrolatum, PreLube 19, and other materials
from wire rope prior to socketing.
Socketing Procedure:

Dilute PEG2 with water at a 1:1 ratio

Heat PEG2 solution between 100oF -
110oF (if
possible)

Bath Agitation: Moderate (if applicable)

Submerse wire rope broom in PEG2 bath
1. Lubricants
will float to surface
2. Remove lubricants with industrial
skimmer or cheese cloth
3. Dispose of waste material properly

Remove wire rope, rinse with water then dry
with stream of air
Note: PEG2 contains rust inhibitors to prevent corrosion of
unprotected wires
Advantages over Chlorinated Solvents

your company only pays to have the waste (petrolatum and asphalt)
removed after they are skimmed off
